History
The Port Broughton Echo’s main intention is to inform the community and promote local businesses, bringing the two together to support our region.
The Port Broughton Echo was originally created by William John George and James Sisely in 1887, and was printed by the Northern Argus in Clare, South Australia. It was then renamed Broughton Echo from 1887 to 1888 but ceased publication soon after.
More than a century later, the Port Broughton Echo was reborn in 1993. Twenty nine years on, in 2022, a new committee of volunteers was born who have created a new look and feel, with the key goal to connect community members and local businesses.
The Port Broughton Echo acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isander peoples today.
